…Directs immediate commencement of road construction and erosion control
The State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has indicated the state government’s determination to help the College of Education, Afaha Nsit to meet all the requirements to attain a degree awarding status.
The assurance was given during the visit of the EXCO committee to the College. The committee constituted by the Governor, was led by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Akparawa Ephraim Inyangenyen, accompanied by the Commissioners for Education, Mrs Idong Etiebet, Works & Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga, Environment, Sir Charles Udoh and Information & Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong . The team was received at the College by the Provost, Registrar, members of the Governing Council and management staff of the college.
The Provost, Dr. Daniel Udo presented his address encapsulating the challenges needed to be handled in preparation for full degree awarding accreditation. He mentioned particularly the need for construction of internal roads, the ongoing erosion menace and other infrastructure and personnel deficit.
In his response, the Chief of Staff to the Governor assured of the Governor’s commitment to the full accreditation of all courses in the College in preparation for the award of degrees. He said that the presence of the commissioners accompanying him was strategic to kickstart the accreditation preparation exercise. He assured that the commissioners will start their different tasks in the college immediately. He announced the Governor’s directive for the immediate commencement of construction of internal roads and the stoppage of the ongoing erosion in the college.
Thereafter the team was led by the Provost on inspection of facilities in the College.
