“On behalf of the Provost, Dr. Daniel Udo of this college, you’ll recall it was on this very platform about a week ago that this election was postponed to today.
The outcome of that is, is what we’re here today. What led to that suspension was a kind of compromise the management dictated on the part of the Eleco and the insecurity that would have unleashed on this campus. In the wisdom of the Provost, he decided that election should be shifted until today and by the special grace of God, we’ll prayed and put human apparatus and other security network to ensure that the election be held today.
I want to assure everybody here present, the student body and the electoral body, the military, other security operatives and media of the fourth estate of the realm; that what the Provost promised that election is going to be free and fair is what we’re going to do today. And we solicit for your cooperation and understanding, we don’t want any form of unrest and we appeal to everyone to conduct his/herself in an orderly manner.”
